Dominican Citizenship
Requirements
Long-form birth certificate, apostilled by the Secretary of State where you were born.
You must translate the already apostilled birth certificate into Spanish. You may request the translation service at our Consulate. If the translation is done outside the consulate, you must apostille that translation in the country or state where you completed that translation process.
Copy of both sides on one page of the valid national ID of the Dominican father and Dominican mother. If one of the parents is a foreign national, an ID is required. The parents' names on the national ID must match exactly as on the birth certificate of the citizen who will complete the transcription; it must also be clear in the certificate that the parents, or one of them, is of Dominican origin.
A copy of the death certificate in Spanish is required. If it is in English, it must be apostilled by the Secretary of State where the parent passed away, and then translated into Spanish.
Process
- Attend the Central Electoral Board with the apostilled and translated certificate to complete the transcription process.
- Children aged 14 and older must appear before the Board.
- The process must be completed in person.
