Internship Program
The Consulate General of the Dominican Republic in Chicago announces the opening of its Internship Program, aimed at young members of the Dominican community interested in gaining educational experience in the consular field, strengthening their academic and civic development, and learning firsthand about public service, citizen assistance, document management, cultural promotion, and community engagement.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be a Dominican citizen, of Dominican descent, or have a verifiable connection to the Dominican community.
- Be between 18 and 30 years of age.
- Reside in Illinois or in one of the states under the jurisdiction of the Consulate General of the Dominican Republic in Chicago: Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, or Wisconsin.
- Be currently enrolled in university, technical, or higher education studies, or have recently completed a degree or academic program.
- Possess communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
- Demonstrate responsibility, punctuality, institutional commitment, discretion, and ethical conduct.
- Be willing to comply with the Consulate’s internal regulations, including confidentiality, data protection, and respectful treatment of the public.
Program Duration
The internship program will last three (3) months.
The internships will be rotational in nature, with the purpose of providing a comprehensive educational experience and allowing the participation of a greater number of young people.
Schedule and Format
The internship will take place four (4) days per week.
Interns may choose one of the following schedules:
- 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
- 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Department Assignment
Assignment to the different departments of the Consulate will be based on the intern’s aptitudes, skills, interests, and academic profile, ensuring an experience aligned with their education and professional goals.
Required Documents
Applicants must submit the following documents:
- Duly completed online application form.
- Updated résumé or curriculum vitae.
- Copy of a valid identification document.
- Proof of Dominican citizenship or Dominican descent.
- Proof of residence in Illinois or in one of the states under the Consulate’s jurisdiction.
- Proof of enrollment, academic transcript, or evidence of recent graduation.
- One academic, professional, or community reference, if applicable.
