Visa Application Start Process

Send the complete file to our consular headquarters by courier and attach a prepaid return envelope with tracking number and stamp for the return of the documents and the passport.

Once the file is resolved and, if favorable, you will have 60 days to pick up your visa or request its shipment from our consular headquarters. You will be notified by email address.

After obtaining the visa, you must travel to the Dominican Republic and process your residence permit, if applicable, which process takes approximately three months.

Notes

  • Birth Certificate: Must be apostilled by the government of your state or country of birth.
  • Certificate of No Criminal Record (FBI Background Check): Must be apostilled by the Federal Government, Department of State in Washington D.C.
  • Marriage Certificate: If you got married in the US, it must be apostilled by the Secretary of State of the state where you got married. If you got married in the Dominican Republic, you must present a recent Dominican certificate.
  • Translation: Official documents in English must be translated into Spanish. Translations can be done at our consular headquarters or through a translation service, apostilled by the Secretary of State where they are translated.
  • The process cannot be initiated more than 90 days prior to the tentative travel date.
