If you completed the process in the United States
For Data Correction (marital status and/or married/single surname) if you completed the process in the United States, the steps are as follows:
- Transcribe birth certificate
- Correct ID card
Transcribe birth certificate
- Original marriage or divorce certificate in long form, and apostilled by the State Secretariat where the process was carried out.
- Translate your already apostilled document into Spanish. Request this service by emailing drchicagoconsulate@gmail.com
- Go to the Central Electoral Board with the apostilled and translated document to complete the transcription process. Request an appointment by emailing chicago@jce.do
Price for translation of the minutes: 75 dollars
Duration: 7 to 10 business days
Price for Transcription of Marriage Certificate: 30 dollars
Price for Transcription of Divorce Decree: 35 dollars
Price for Printing the Certificate: 25 dollars

Correct ID card
- Request a change to your national identity card information at the Central Electoral Board, once you have completed the previous step (transcription of the birth certificate). Write to the following email address: chicago@jce.do
- A legalized copy of your Dominican birth certificate. If you don't have it, you must request it on the day you complete the transcription process.
- Copy of the marriage or divorce certificate already transcribed (in the Dominican format).
- Valid ID with your photo.
