Visa Application Initiation Process
- Send the complete file to our office by courier and include a prepaid return envelope with a tracking number and postal stamp for the return of the documents and passport.
- Once the file has been processed and, if the result is favorable, you will have 60 days to collect your visa or request shipment from our consular office. You will be notified by email.
- After obtaining the visa, you must travel to the Dominican Republic and apply for your residence permit (if applicable), which takes approximately three months.

Payment method: via money order payable to the Dominican Consulate
Processing time: 30 to 45 business days, including time for translations
Remarks
- Birth Certificate: Must be apostilled by the government of your state or country of birth.
- Certificate of No Criminal Record (FBI Background Check): Must be apostilled by the Federal Government (Department of State in Washington D.C.).
- Marriage Certificate: If married in the U.S., it must be apostilled by the Secretary of State of the state where the marriage took place. If married in the Dominican Republic, a recent Dominican certificate must be presented.
- Official documents in English must be translated into Spanish. Translations can be done at our consular office or through a translation service (apostilled by the Secretary of State where the translation is done).
- The process cannot be initiated more than 90 days before the tentative travel date.
Translation fees at the consulate:
$75 per certificate
$25 for each additional page in multi-page documents
